The Star of the Andes wants to progress further.

In Argentina, the Waldorf movement has a long history, especially in the vicinity of the capital Buenos Aires. In recent decades, schools have also emerged beyond this. The previous issue of the newsletter already contained an article about initiatives in southern Patagonia. Further north in the country, near Mendoza, there is an initiative "Estrella Andina" that could use our support.
In 2016, a school initiative was started here, which has currently grown into a school with about 200 students. More than twenty teachers work intensively together in a rural environment. Together with the parents and children, they form a close community that is active in various anthroposophical work areas. Artistic therapy, biodynamic agriculture, and other forms of applied anthroposophy find a literally and figuratively fertile ground here.
Estrella grew quickly; about half of the teachers have received a Waldorf teacher training. The other colleagues also want to achieve this. A few years ago, this was easier than today. Currently, the training is hardly affordable anymore. In recent years, inflation has been immensely high (inflation was 211.4% in 2023 and 117.8% in 2024).
This inflation not only put the funds for the training in jeopardy, but also the teacher salaries. In Argentina, Waldorf schools are unsubsidized. On top of that, there are families who can hardly or no longer afford the school fees. Without this income, no teacher salaries, no school materials, etc.
Even though they have to make do with less, the faculty is determined to further expand this school. The teachers are grounded and want the children to have something to offer the world in the future. As it was written in the stars of the Andes.
